The International School Wassenaar – Rijnlands Lyceum welcomed its first students in September 2019. The new school is part of the Rijnlands Lyceum Foundation, which is the largest and most experienced provider of international education in the Netherlands. The International School Wassenaar – Rijnlands Lyceum is located on the beautiful, lush campus of the highly esteemed Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar.
The International School Wassenaar – Rijnlands Lyceum currently offers the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme for Year 7 (MYP1) and Year 8 (MYP2). As of September 2020, we will also be offering Year 9 (MYP3). We will be adding a full year group each year going forward until we offer all five years of the Middle Years Programme and both years of the Diploma Programme, so our students can enjoy a full international secondary education.
The International School Wassenaar – Rijnlands Lyceum has had an excellent start. We have a diverse and intellectually curious student body, a dedicated teaching staff and an engaged parent community. We offer the rich MYP curriculum with a focus on inquiry-based learning and conceptual understanding, as well as offering many opportunities for students to develop through trips, guest organizations, activities and extra-curricular clubs.
Chloe, one of the lead news writers for our extra-curricular Magazine Club, conducted a bit of research for this article and expresses it best:
“The International School Wassenaar – Rijnlands Lyceum is an exceptional school full of friendly people and minds brimming with ideas. We wake up every day wondering what excitement the school day will bring. I asked a few fellow pupils for their opinion about our school and this is what they had to say, “The school is fantastic, and the teachers are very nice”, “I like the atmosphere of the school”, “ The teachers teaching techniques are good”, “It is a great location¨. As you can see, we love attending this school. The teachers are pleasant and patient with us, this school has a positive learning environment and we feel safe coming here each day. You can easily take the bus each day as the bus stop is right outside the school and if you cycle to school then there is a lot of space to stall your bike.And if six hours of school are not enough for you there are after school clubs on every day and whether it is sporty or academic they are always enjoyable. Magazine club is an example of one of the clubs. We are all assigned a role such as a news writer, illustrator or editor in the club, and over time work together to create a school magazine.”
