Our Global Citizenship Day is a tradition at the Rijnlands. Every year, students take part in activities centred around a particular country. This year, the focus was on Japan.
Together with the students from the TTO (bilingual) first year classes, we took part in an opening ceremony, three activities including an aikido lesson, a Japanese treasure hunt and a haiku writing competition.
Students were in samll groups with team shirts hand-decorated with the theme of their group. The groups were awarded points for each activity and at the end of the day we held a prize giving. We had a lot of fun but just as importantly, we learnt a lot about Japan.
