Admissions

Children qualify for places at the International School Wassenaar if they are:

  • From countries outside of the Netherlands, who are part of the mobile international community.
  • From Dutch families who have been internationally mobile (OC&W regulations define this as those who have spent ‘at least’ two years in a school abroad) immediately prior to the placement year, and in need of being educated in an international school to ensure continuity of education.

No. We have a rolling admissions policy. This means that if there is availability we accept students throughout the year.

Your child’s school year placement depends on their date of birth, as well as on their current school grade.

We are happy to show you the school premises and give more detailed information about our school and team! The tours can be held from Tuesday to Friday, from 11 to 14 o’clock. To arrange a tour, please contact the admissions team: a.lubiana@rijnlandslyceum-rlw.nl/k.wilde@ijnlandslyceum-rlw.nl

International School Wassenaar (ISW) is a part of Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar, however, they have different curriculums. Only Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar offers the TTO (Tweetalig Onderwijs). ISW offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme. Dutch language is a subject of the IB Curriculum, but all of other subjects are taught in English. 

School life

  • Absences (illness, medical appointments etc.) must be advised before 08:30 am. Parents/guardians can either leave a message on 070-512 1801 or send an email to: office@rijnlandslyceum-rlw.nl.
  • If a student is late, they must sign in with Ms. Wilde and/or Ms. Lubiana at the office in D0.01 and they will be given a late note to take to their teacher. If they have received a late note, they will need to come to school at 08:00 am the following school day. All lateness will be recorded.

No, the International School Wassenaar does not have boarding facilities.

The International School Wassenaar has a cafeteria which provides sandwiches, snacks and drinks. Students are free to bring a packed lunch.

Our students do not wear a uniform.

Transport

The International School Wassenaar does not operate a bus service.

Many students cycle to school or catch local buses. Cycling in the Netherlands is the safest in the world due to the excellent cycle infrustrature. It is not unusual for high school students to cycle up to 10km to school.

Technology

Yes laptops can be purchased or rented through the rent company.
